Drove for the first time on the wrong side of the road today

Posted by Mark Sztainbok on August 17, 2006

Today, I drove for the first time in US. Craig was a bit pensive about me driving and didn’t make a very good passenger so I only ended up driving a very short distance back from Fred Meyer where we had gone to buy a mop bucket back to our apartment.

After we came home, I ended up going for a drive by myself to the Safeway supermarket in Redmond (3.5 miles or 5.6 km). There was a bit of traffic as it was peak hour but the drive went quite smoothly although admittedly I drove over the raised line markers a few times.

I’m going to need a bit more practice as I’ve got to sit my Washington Driver’s Licence in a few weeks but at least I know that it’s not as hard as I thought.

Pensive is very much interchangeable with TERRIFIED!

As a passenger it’s quite frightening to find yourself lined up with the lines on the road, and here the “ducketa ducket ducketa” noise as all the markings are run over.

  2. What Craig doesn’t say is that for the first few days he was doing that too….

That is why cars have the “oh-shit” handles.

Ahhh but I did say I did it too. Refer to my blog.

Besides I’ve got the better driving record 😛
